They say everything is bigger in Texas, so naturally we asked ourselves, does this include FKTs? How are the women of Texas doing with their FKTs? What routes are open to new women’s FKTs?
Of the 45 posted routes and variations, 29 have no posted women’s times (64 percent). Four of the posted FKTs are mixed gender (nine percent). Six are held outright by women or mixed gender teams (13 percent).
In 2022, there were 31 new FKTs recorded in Texas – nine by women (29 percent), four by mixed teams (13 percent) and 18 by men (58 percent), reflecting general FKT trends we’ve noticed.
If you want to set an FKT on a route that does not have a posted women’s FKT, you should search for known times on Strava and Google.
We’d love to see that gender gap close in Texas in 2023! If you are thinking about a Texas FKT, let us know how we can help.
